Luftbild Schloss Glücksburg - Die eigentliche Baugeschichte des heutigen Schlosses beginnt 1582 | Die eigentliche Baugeschichte des heutigen Schlosses beginnt 1582, als der dänische König Friedrich II. seinen Bruder Johann, genannt Hans der Jüngere, Herzog von Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg, mit dem Kloster und den umliegenden Ländereien belehnte. Johann begann sofort mit dem Abriss der Klosteranlagen und ließ das Schloss Glücksburg nach französischen Vorbildern errichten. Der Baumeister war Nikolaus Karies, der den Bau von 1583 bis 1587 abschloss.
