Luftbild Eckernförde - Ein weiteres bedeutendes Wahrzeichen ist die Borbyer Kirche | Ein weiteres bedeutendes Wahrzeichen ist die Borbyer Kirche, die auf dem Petersberg thront und mit ihrem schlanken Turm weithin sichtbar ist. Sie gilt als Mahnmal und Symbol der Stadt und wurde im 13. Jahrhundert erweitert. Das Innere der Kirche wurde jüngst nach altem Vorbild renoviert, wobei die ursprüngliche Holzdecke freigelegt wurde; bedeutende Ausstattungsstücke sind die 1690 entstandene Kanzel, das 1500er-Jahr-Triumphkreuz und ein 800 Jahre alter Taufstein aus Kalkstein. Auf dem Aschberg steht ein Denkmal des ehemaligen deutschen Reichskanzlers Otto von Bismarck, das aus Kupferblech geformt wurde und 1930 an seinem heutigen Standort aufgestellt wurde.
