Luftbild Schloss Glücksburg - Das Schloss diente fortan als Sommerresidenz des dänischen Königshauses und wurde als „Wiege Europas“ bezeichnet | 1825 wurde das Schloss dem Schwager des dänischen Königs, Friedrich Wilhelm von Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Beck, übergeben. Dieser begründete mit seiner Ehefrau Luise Karoline von Hessen-Kassel die jüngere Linie der Glücksburger Herzöge. Sein Sohn Christian wurde 1863 nach dem Tod des dänischen Königs Friedrich VII. König von Dänemark und begründete damit die heutige dänische Königsfamilie. Das Schloss diente fortan als Sommerresidenz des dänischen Königshauses und wurde als „Wiege Europas“ bezeichnet, da aus der Familie Christian IX. mehrere europäische Könige hervorgingen.
