Nordstrander Damm & Pohnshalligkoog Luftbilder | Südlich und südöstlich des Pohnshalligkoogs liegt der Beltringharder Koog. Dieser wurde 1987 eingedeicht, um die Deichlinie zu verkürzen und den Küstenschutz zu verbessern. Im Gegensatz zum landwirtschaftlich geprägten Pohnshalligkoog wurde der Beltringharder Koog jedoch nicht zur Besiedlung oder intensiven Landnutzung freigegeben. Stattdessen entwickelte er sich zum größten Naturschutzgebiet auf dem schleswig-holsteinischen Festland.
