Entwickelt als Weiterentwicklung der früheren G-3-Modelle, wurde sie speziell für die US-amerikanische Light-Sport-Aircraft (LSA)-Klasse mit einem zulässigen Höchstabfluggewicht von 600 kg (1.320 lb) konzipiert und gleichzeitig in Deutschland als Ultraleichtflugzeug zugelassen. Der Prototyp absolvierte 1997 seinen Erstflug, und die Serienproduktion wurde später durch die Remos AG in Pasewalk fortgesetzt.
