Luftbild Ostseefjord Schlei, Sieseby, Gemeinde Thumby | Das älteste Bauwerk des Dorfes ist die Feldsteinkirche, die im Kern bereits im 12. Jahrhundert errichtet wurde und aus der Zeit der Romanik stammt. Sie diente ursprünglich als Gotteshaus und in Notzeiten als Zufluchtsstätte für Siedler und Fischer am wichtigen Handelsweg nach Haithabu. Im 13. Jahrhundert wurde die Kirche erweitert, wobei ein neuer Chor nach Osten hin angebaut und ein Kreuzrippengewölbe eingezogen wurde.
